Kirt, the iconoclastic humoritarian!
(a.k.a. an agent of comedic chaos and uninvited heretical and insurrectionary court jester)
BIO AND INTRO
Using SATIRE, SILLINESS and unscripted audience SYMPATHY, Kirt–a former evangelical Christian and pastor, US Army combat veteran, seasoned social worker and non-profit leader, and an aspiring allie and advocate for social justice–challenges ignorant, fearful, greedy, and bigoted ideologies and behaviors (‘norms’) expressed in and through organized religion, class capitalism (neofeudalism), nationalism, and popular culture while inviting the audience explore what an alternative way of living could look like marked by radical tolerance, generosity, empathy, compassion, equity, reconciliation, and reparation.
And he throws in a dash of absurdism to remind us of how laughably little we know and how small we are in the grand scope of the universe.
In short, it is a cathartic, chaotic, and compassionate recovery group meets B-grade TED Talk.
A Soteriological Hypothesis of Cachinnation (kirt’s philosophy of comedy)
Laughing at ourselves is the gateway drug to self and community awareness ("Why do we do that!?")
Self and community awareness is the gateway drug to bold, collective vision ("What if...").
Bold and collective vision is the gateway drug to an infectious hope (“This might work!”).
Hope is the gateway drug to revolutionary action (“Let’s do this!”)
And revolutionary action is the gateway drug to life-giving change that brings us closer to a world we can all enjoy and be proud of (“We did it!”).
I aspire to be a really good (and amusing) ‘drug dealer’.
